The News & Observer

Jesse Gray Linzel died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 10, 2018 after complications from dementia. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Edward Linzel, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hoyle and Winnie May, brother-in-law’s, WL May, Jack May, Bob Powell and Charles Suddith, sister-in-law’s, Jerine May, Ann May, Adele Powell and Joan May, and son-in-law, Brad Rudolph. Gray attended the University of Arkansas, where he played on the golf team. His love of golf carried on throughout his life as he held many achievements in this field. He was a member at North Ridge Country Club where he was club champion in 1978. 

He also won the Donald Ross father and son tournament with Gray, Jr. in 1978.Gray retired from GE Capital and will always be remembered for his contagious smile, witty sense of humor and his wonderful dancing. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Winnie of 58 years, who he met in Spanish class in junior high school, son Gray Jr. Linzel and their son, Gray III, daughter Kari Rudolph and son Scotty Linzel, and his 3 girls Haley, Ashley and Kaitlyn. Also surviving are his brother Moe Linzel, bother-in-law Scotty May and sister-in-law Betty Jo Suddith, and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of his life will be on July 28th from 2 – 5 pm at North Ridge Country Club.

The Census ACS 1-year survey reports that the median household income for the Raleigh-Cary North Carolina metro area was $71,685 in 2016, the latest figures available. Raleigh median household income is $21,101 higher than the median North Carolina household income and $14,068 greater than the US median household income. At $71,685, the median household income for Raleigh was at a new inflation adjusted high in 2016. The ACS 1-year data shows the median family income for Raleigh was $87,547 in 2016. Compared to the median North Carolina family income, Raleigh median family income is $25,258 higher. 

As with the median household income data, 2017 family income data for Raleigh will be released in September of 2018. At $87,547, the median family income for Raleigh was at a new inflation adjusted high in 2016. The ACS 1-year survey shows the per capita income for Raleigh was $35,661 in 2016. Compared to the median North Carolina per capita income, Raleigh median per capita income is $7,505 higher. As with the median household and median family income numbers above, 2017 per capita income data for Raleigh will be released in September of 2018.
