New Home Building and Design Blog

Privacy and comfort are just the starting point when you’re designing a home with an extended guest retreat. Whether you’d prefer a simple bedroom and bath, dual master suites, some living area, or an entire apartment, your custom builder’s ability to be flexible can make a huge impact. Private in law wing – set away from the master bedroom and kitchen. In this version of the Woodlake, the home owner wanted to create a distinct space for an in law suite. Another version of this home could create an even more private area with a few simple changes – by moving the closet to a different wall, opening up the family room and bedroom, and adding a door to the hallway.

First floor mother in law suite with private entrance from the exterior, fully accessible with ramp. This version of the Greenhaven includes an in law suite with living room and master suite style bathroom. Accessible features were incorporated into this in law bathroom, including a roll under counter and roll in shower. Stanton Homes designs most of the mother in law plans we build, because everyone’s needs are unique. These mother in law suite homes can be designed to include anything you need – such as adapted features or fully accessible design – with a second master bedroom with a private bathroom and large closet, and optional living room, kitchenette, and private entrances.

Our in-house design work comes included in our custom home packages, at no extra cost to our homebuyers. Tell us the elements you like best, and we’ll give you some great ideas to think about for your own mother in law quarters.

Party recommendation on Senate vacancy approved – North Carolina Lawyers Weekly

Raleigh The North Carolina General Assembly has decided new restrictions should be placed upon North Carolina’s governor when the governor names someone to temporarily fill a U.S. Senate seat vacated by death or resignation. The House gave final legislative approval June 13 to a measure requiring the governor to appoint someone from a list of three people recommended by the executive committee of the party with which the outgoing senator was affiliated. Currently, the governor only must choose someone affiliated with the same political party as the outgoing senator. The appointee will keep serving until the seat is open at the next scheduled statewide election.

Gov. Roy Cooper now must decide whether to sign the bill, veto it or let it become law without his signature.
