Barefoot Family Law
This law firm was founded on the idea that people are the most important element to the success of any endeavor and, for Barefoot Family Law, the most important people are the people that we help every day. We understand and respect that, if you are reading this, you are likely experiencing some of the most difficult times of your life or are considering decisions that may lead to disruption and uncertainty. Most people who read this are trying to choose the person, an attorney, with whom they will share details about their lives that they have sometimes not shared with their closest friends or family and they are looking for someone to stand up for them and guide them through the challenge of divorce. Our motivation and our measure of success come from looking after the people who have chosen us from among many options, and we recognize that trusting us at a vulnerable time places upon us a great responsibility. We take that responsibility seriously and hope that you will let us help you.

Child Support in North Carolina
There are some issues where the parent paying child support is not making the payments. In Wake County, there is a child support enforcement agency. Child Support: Combined pretax annual incomes of both parents. If the couple is off the guideline, there will be different factors involved in determining the Child Support amount. Child Support is not taxable as income for the person receiving it. Child Support: Continues until the child reaches 18, or emancipated. Child support is not court ordered beyond age 18 even if the child is in college. Not paying Child Support can be civil or even criminal in nature. Someone can be put in jail until the child support is paid. If the supporting parent moves out of state, the parent receiving child support will then likely have to work with the state the other parent moved to. Child Support can get complicated and be very emotional. Child Support and visitation rights are separate from each other and one is not contingent on the other.
